Regional Meeting with Multi-sectoral Partners on Urban Governance for Health and Wellbeing in South-East Asia Region

Highlights from “ Regional Meeting with Multisectoral Partners on Urban Governance for Health and Well-being in South-East Asia Region” hosted by World Health Organization South-East Asia Region – WHO SEARO, on 27-29 September 2022, Bangkok, Thailand:
 
Assoc. Prof. Panit Pujinda, Director of Regional Laboratory on Urban Governance for Health and Well-Being,introduced the Regional Laboratory of Urban Governance for Health and Well-being and the organisation’s plan for capacity building of cities in the region.
 
Head of research and advisor of the laboratory, Wan Chantavilaswong, delivered a presentation on the assessment tool developed by the Regional Laboratory to support regional cities’ profiling of their current health status and to guide cities’ development in urban governance of health and well-being.  This was a culmination of over a year of research on globally recognised determinants as well as contextualisation of relevant indicators in the region.
 
The benefits of joining the WHO-SEARO Healthy Cities Network, as administered by the Regional Laboratory, was also presented to the delegation of city mayors, local government officials, city representatives, and academia across the WHO South-East Asia Region. UN Habitat staff and Thai Health promotion officials were also in attendance.
 
The event marks a great start for the collaboration amongst partners in this region. The laboratory aims to cultivate a robust Healthy Cities Network, building towards a future of healthier cities in the South-East Asia region.
