The World Health Organization South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO) and the Regional Laboratory on Urban Governance for Health and Well-being (RL-UGHW) invite you to a regional webinar on urban health resilience and preparedness for climate-driven public health emergencies. This 90-minute session will explore how climate-driven disasters are reshaping urban life and what cities can do to strengthen preparedness, risk communication, and community resilience. Participants will gain insights from experts at WHO and UNDRR on strategies for building safer and healthier cities.

Dr. Suvajee Good – Regional Advisor, Health Promotion and Social Determinants of Health, WHO-SEARO
Dr. Good has over 25 years of international experience in health promotion, social determinants of health, and emergency preparedness across Africa and Asia. She leads WHO-SEARO’s work on healthy cities, health equity, and multisectoral action, and was a key advisor in COVID-19, Ebola, and other outbreak responses.

Speakers

Faustina Gomez – Technical Officer, Climate Change and Health, WHO-SEARO
Supports countries in South-East Asia to integrate climate resilience into health systems and policies. Leads capacity-building, risk assessments, and technical guidance to advance climate-informed health strategies.

Dr. Pushpa Ranjan Wijesinghe – Programme Area Manager, Infectious Hazard Management, WHO-SEARO
Coordinates preparedness and response for high-threat pathogens, pandemic planning, and resilience strategies. Experienced in immunization, emerging infectious diseases, and global influenza preparedness.

Dr. Rose Aynsley – Senior Consultant, Risk Communication and Community Engagement, WHO-SEARO
Strengthens national capacities in risk communication, community engagement, and infodemic management across South-East Asia. Formerly led RCCE initiatives in the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Pacific regions.

Sunisa Ho – Associate Programme Management Officer, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)
Leads urban resilience initiatives in Asia-Pacific, including the Making Cities Resilient 2030 and disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction projects. Experienced in climate finance, community capacity-building, and multi-hazard early warning systems.
